India’s COVID tally rises by 11,610 fresh cases, 100 deaths

New Delhi (NVI): With 11,610 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus cases tally reached 10,937,320, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

The death count climbed to 1,55,913 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 100 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.43 per cent.

Currently, more than 1.06 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stand at 10,644,858 pushing the national recovery rate to 97.32 per cent.

There are 1,36,549 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which accounts for 1.25 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 20,71,306 followed by Kerala with 10,11,956 and Karnataka with 9,46,076 positive cases.

The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,88,959), Tamil Nadu (8,46,026), Delhi (6,37,181) and Uttar Pradesh (6,02,344).

Meanwhile, the number of healthcare and frontline workers vaccinated against COVID-19 has reached 89,99,230 on day 31 of the nationwide inoculation drive, the ministry stated.
