India’s Covid tally rises by 12,408 fresh cases, tops 10.8 million

New Delhi (NVI): With 12,408 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s overall COVID-19 tally reached 10,802,591, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

The death count increased to 1,54,823 with 120 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Currently, the number of patients cured and recovered across the country have crossed 1.04 crore-mark and stands at 1,04,96,308, pushing the national COVID-19 recovery rate of 97.16 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.43 per cent.

Meanwhile, the active cases further dropped to 1.5 lakh-mark and stands at 1,51,460, the data stated.

Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 20,36,002 cases followed by Karnataka with 9,41,070 cases and Kerala with 9,50,811 positive cases.

Schools in Delhi reopened for Class 9 and Class 11 today. The government had resumed schools for classes 10 and 12 on January 18.

In another development, the number of healthcare workers vaccinated in the country stands at 49,59,445., 5,09,893 doses being administered over the previous day.
