New Delhi (NVI): India saw a rise of 12,689 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 10,689,527, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
Deaths from the pandemic also rose by 137 and took the toll to 1,53,724.
Currently, the number of recovered cases in the country have crossed 10.35 million and stands at 10,359,305.
Meanwhile, active coronavirus cases in India have dropped further below and stands at 1,76,498 at a time when the country is undergoing the world’s biggest vaccination drive.
Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 20,13,353 covid cases followed by Karnataka with 9,36,955 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 8,87,238 cases.
Furthermore, over 2 million healthcare workers across the country have received Covid-19 vaccine jabs till date.
According to Health ministry data, the highest number of vaccinations in the country till now have been carried out in Karnataka at 231,601 followed by Odisha at 177,090, Rajasthan at 161,332 and Maharashtra at 136,901.
