New Delhi (NVI): With 13,193 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus cases tally reached 10,963,394, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.
The death count climbed to 1,56,111 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 97 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.42 per cent.
Currently, more than 1.06 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stand at 10,667,741 pushing the national recovery rate to 97.32 per cent.
There are 1,37,342 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which accounts for 1.25 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 20,81,520 followed by Kerala with 10,21,432 and Karnataka with 9,46,860 positive cases.
The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,89,077), Tamil Nadu (8,46,937), Delhi (6,37,445) and Uttar Pradesh (6,02,490).
At the same time, India’s vaccination drive has crossed the 1-crore mark with 1,01,88,007 beneficiaries being vaccinated so far with over 2 lakh of them receiving their shots in the last 24 hours.
India is currently focused on vaccinating its healthcare and frontline workers.
Meanwhile, the civic authorities in Mumbai on Thursday clamped down with fresh safety measures as Covid numbers in the state and the city remained in an upward trajectory for a week, logging over 5000 cases. Mumbai reported 736 cases.
Amravati has been placed under lockdown over the week-end — from Saturday evening to Monday.
