India’s covid tally rises by 24,492 fresh cases, 131 deaths

New Delhi (NVI): With 24,492 new coronavirus infections being reported in the last 24 hours, the overall tally has climbed to 11,409,831, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

The death count climbed to 1,58,856 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 131 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.41 percent.

Currently, more than 1.10 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stands at 11,027,543, which translates to a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 96.86 percent.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 active caseload increased to 2,23,432 which now comprises 1.74 percent of the total infections.

Maharashtra reported 15,051 new cases, while Punjab had 1,818 cases.

With this, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 23,29,464 COVID-19 cases followed by Kerala with 10,92,324 and Karnataka with 9,61,204 positive cases.

The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,92,008), Tamil Nadu (8,60,562), Delhi (6,44,064) and Uttar Pradesh (6,05,441).
