India’s COVID tally surpasses 93-lakh mark; death toll mounts to 1.35 lakh

New Delhi (NVI): India’s coronavirus tally crossed the 93-lakh mark and stands at 93,09,788 with a single-day rise of 43,082 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry confirmed.

The country’s death toll has reached to 1,35,715 with 492 fatalities reported during this period.

So far, 87,18,517 patients have been cured and recovered all over the country while active cases stands at 4,55,555.

However, the national recovery rate in the country stands at 93 per cent.

In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases surpassed 18-lakh mark and stands 18,02,365, followed by Karnataka with 8,79,650 cases, and Andhra Pradesh with 8,65,705 positive cases.

Other states with a high virus hit included Tamil Nadu (7,76,174), Kerala (5,83,371) and Uttar Pradesh (5,35,449).

Meanwhile, of the total deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 46,813 fatalities, followed by Karnataka with 11,726 deaths.

Delhi has also registered 5,51,262 cases of coronavirus, while the death toll from the virus has reached 8,811 in the national capital.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), more than 13.70 crore samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to November 26. Of these, 11,31,204 samples were tested yesterday.

Furthermore, nearly seven per cent of India’s population aged ten and above was exposed to SARS-CoV-2, amounting to an estimated 74.3 million infections by August, ICMR’s second serosurvey said.
