New Delhi (NVI): India saw a rise of 11,752 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 10,702,031, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
Deaths from the pandemic also rose by 123 and took the toll to 1,53,847.
Currently, the number of recovered cases in the country have crossed 10.37 million and stands at 10,373,606.
Meanwhile, active coronavirus cases in India have dropped further below and stands at 1,73,740 at a time when the country is undergoing the world’s biggest vaccination drive.
In worst-affected states, Maharashtra tops the list with 20,15,524 positive cases of coronavirus, followed by Karnataka with 9,37,383 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 8,87,349 cases.
So far, 153 cases of UK coronavirus variant have been detected in India, Union health minister Harsh Vardhan told a media briefing.
As many as 2.3 million beneficiaries have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in india. A total of 16 hospitalisations and nine deaths have been reported so far. However, the health ministry has not linked any of the casualties with Covid vaccination.
In another development, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) yesterday allowed cinema halls and theatres to operate with more people while swimming pools have been permitted for use by all in fresh Covid-19 reopening guidelines.
