India’s security preparedness assessed in view of Ukraine war

New Delhi: India’s security preparedness and the prevailing global scenario in the context of ongoing conflict in Ukraine was reviewed today at a top meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here

The meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security was apprised of the latest developments and different aspects of India’s security preparedness in the border areas as well as in the maritime and air domain, an official statement said.

Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi recently undertook a visit to border areas of Jammu and Kashmir and got assessment of the situation there besides that within the Union Territory.

“The Prime Minister was also briefed on the latest developments in Ukraine, including the details of Operation Ganga to evacuate Indian nationals, along with some citizens of India’s neighbouring countries, from Ukraine,” the statement said.

The Prime Minister directed that all possible efforts should be made to bring back the mortal remains of Naveen Shekharappa, who died in the the conflict in Kharkiv region of Ukraine, it added.
