Srinagar (NVI): Another infiltration bid was foiled at Parkian Gali sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on the intervening night of June 29 and June 30, the Army said today.

Defence Officials said that a group of at least six to eight infiltrators were challenged at Parkian Gali along LoC but they fled away taking advantage of darkness.

“On night of 29/30, suspicious movement of 6-8 persons was observed in two groups in Parkian Gali Sector, Kupwara (J&K) along the LoC. Own troops challenged the infiltrators with fire. Infiltrators ran away taking help of darkness. Details awaited,” the Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar corps tweeted.

Apart from that, the Tanghdar and Nougam sectors in Kupwara district have witnessed unprovoked ceasefire violation since last night as Pakistan fired mortar shells and small arms. Top Police and Army officers have been maintaining that frequent ceasefire violations were aimed at pushing militants into this side of the LoC.

Earlier on June 1, a major infiltration bid was foiled by the Indian Army at the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshehra sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, as three heavily armed terrorists were killed.

In early April this year, the Army foiled a major infiltration attempt at LoC in north Kashmir’s Keran sector, killing five terrorists while losing five of its soldiers from elite forces in an operation.
