Srinagar, Oct 10 (NVI): National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that the Legislature Party meeting unanimously evolved consensus to make Omar Abdullah Chairman of the LP which means Omar is the NC’s Chief Ministerial Candidate.
As per the rules, Omar will get the letter of support from the Congress and all legislators of his party to stake claim on the government formation before the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha by Saturday.
Talking to reporters at party headquarters Nawa-e-Subh complex, Dr Farooq said that in the LP meeting, Omar has been chosen as the LP chairman. He, couldn’t elaborate, owing to the huge presence of media men there and the intense noise.
A senior NC leader told NVI that Omar is the CM candidate of NC. “Whosoever becomes the chairman of LP is obviously CM face of the party. Now we have to get letter of support from Congress and to stake claim on government formation by Saturday. For that Omar will meet LG at Rajbhawan on Saturday,” he said, wishing not to be named.
In the recently concluded polls, NC won majority as people gave the party 42 seats while as its alliance partner settled on just six seats. The Assembly polls also saw the fall of PDP that got just three seats. However, BJP swept Jammu by bagging 29 seats. (News Vibes of India)
