Srinagar, July 23 (NVI):- Amid an ongoing intense heat wave gripping the Kashmir region, the Jal Shakti Department has appealed to residents to use water judiciously.
Vivek Kohli Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department Kashmir emphasised the importance of conserving water resources to ensure sufficient supply for all, as soaring temperatures have led to increased water demand.
Kohli highlighted that the current weather conditions have significantly strained the water supply infrastructure.
He advised citizens to avoid wasteful practices and to adopt water-saving measures in their daily routines.
“With the heat wave continuing to affect our region, it is crucial that we all contribute to conserving water. Simple steps such as fixing leaks, using buckets instead of hoses for washing vehicles, and minimizing water usage for non-essential activities can make a significant difference,” he said.
The department also announced that it would be intensifying monitoring and enforcement to prevent illegal water connections and wastage. Penalties for water misuse will be strictly enforced to ensure compliance and equitable distribution.
Residents are encouraged to report any instances of water leakage or misuse to the department’s helpline.
Vivek Kohli said that as of now everything is going well but if anywhere there is water shortage they must contact department and tankers will be sent there.(News Vibes of India)
