New Delhi (NVI): Actor-activist Deep Sidhu, who was arrested by Delhi Police today in connection with January 26 Red Fort rampage during farmer’s tractor rally, has been sent to seven-day police custody.
Sidhu was arrested in morning and then produced before a Delhi court which sent him to seven days’ police custody.
He is accused of fueling tensions and hoisting a Sikh religious flag at Red Fort on Republic Day, triggering a massive outrage.
On January 26, thousands of protesting farmers, who were supposed to conduct a peaceful tractor march in the national capital, clashed with police, changed pre-planned routes and breaking into the iconic red fort.
The police had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for leads on Sidhu and three others in connection with the violence. Sidhu, who was constantly changing places to evade arrest, was held from Zirakpur between Chandigarh and Ambala.
