Srinagar (NVI): At least 12 civilians have been injured in a grenade attack by terrorists on a security forces party in Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police officials said.
A senior police officer said that the militants lobbed a grenade on a joint team of Police and CRPF in Kakapora. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on road.
Twelve civilians received splinter injuries in the blast. They were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, the officer added.
Two of those injured were shifted to Bone and Joint Hospital, Srinagar, four to SDH Pampore and six others were being treated at PHC Kakapora.
Those injured have been identified as Raja begum and Suhail Ahmad, both residents of Naman in Kakapora, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Mushtaq Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Habib Ulla Shiekh, Gh Nabi Shiekh, Abrar Dar, Bashir Ahmad, all residents of Kakapora, Amir from Uttar Pradesh, Adil Ahmad from Shamboora and Gh Muhandin from Laribal, Kakapora.
Meanwhile, the whole area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway.
