J&K: 50 security forces personnel among 353 new cases, tally at 16,782

Srinagar (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir today witnessed 353 fresh Covid-19 cases including 33 travelers, a doctor and 50 security forces personnel, taking the total number of positive cases to 16,782 in the Union Territory.

With 353 new cases, the total number of cases in the UT has reached 16,672 including 13,302 from Kashmir and 3480 from the Jammu division. “Among the new cases, there are 33 travelers, a doctor and 50 security forces personnel,” an official said.

They said that as of the today’s fresh cases, 224 cases belong to Kashmir division while 129 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached 13,302 including 7291 recoveries while the total number of positive cases in Jammu have reached 3480 including 1926 recoveries and 21 deaths.

The total number of active cases in J&K is 7269 including 5736 from Kashmir and 1533 from Jammu.

With 508 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached 9217 which is 54.92 percent of the total cases, which was over 63 percent a few days before.

Srinagar district alone has 3648 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu- 3480.

Cases tested positive in J&K include 40 from Srinagar, 2 from Baramulla, 83 from Kulgam, 59 from Shopian, 4 from Pulwama and 36 from Bandipora while 129 from Jammu include 45 from Jammu, 29 from Kathua, 7 from Rajouri, 4 from Udhampur, 24 from Ramban, 13 from Samba, 2 from Poonch, 4 from Kishtwar and 1 from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin, 3,47,939 persons in the UT are under observation while 42,781 persons have been kept under home quarantine. Besides, 7269 persons are in hospital isolation while 12 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 2,56,662 persons have completed surveillance period and 40,919 persons are under home surveillance.

So far, results of 5,59,399 samples are available out of which 5,42,616 stand negative while 16,782 have been tested positive. Among those tested positive, 7269 are active and 9217 have recovered while 296 have died.
