Srinagar, Aug 28 (NVI): As a befittingly poignant statement, Junaid Azim Mattu has resigned himself from the J&K Apni Party. Mattu has thanked the party President, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari, and colleagues while acknowledging the support and kindness received by him.
Mattu has taken the decision in fulfillment of a solemn pledge he had made at the time of his recent Hajj when he had vowed to keep his acts according to his own values and belief. He has also discussed at length with his followers over the past five days.
“I cannot and should not criticize what I have been a part of. My best wishes remain with Altaf Sahab, who has been nothing but kind and protective,” Mattu said according to a statement which lies with the News Vibes of India—(NVI).
However, he said his personal conviction no longer matches the party ideology. He thinks it would amount to a fraud on the electorate to continue as a party candidate under these circumstances.
He added, the party is free to choose any other candidate for the Zadibal constituency instead of him. The former mayor also said he intends to call for a press conference in the next few days to express his plans and strategy.
Re-iterating his resolve for standing up by the truth and his faith, Mattu talked about the tough way ahead but again reiterated his commitment to speaking to power even though it may come at a cost.
In concluding, Mattu asked Allah for guidance and to follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to keep steadfast in his work with sincerity and righteousness. (News Vibes of India)
