J&K Assembly Elections: SSP Kulgam holds meeting to ensure smooth polls

Srinagar, Aug 17 (NVI) : A day after elections to J&K Assembly were announced, Senior Superintendent of Police of Kulgam Sahil Sarangal today chaired a meeting to discuss security measures and deployment plan for polling in the district which has seen considerable terrorist activity in the recent past.

The meeting was attended by Additional SP of Kulgam, Additional SP of Qazigund, SHOs of all police stations of the district and other officers.

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held with regard to security of polling locations, camping sites, strategies to counter terror, maintaining law and order and other election-related issues to ensure hassle-free elections.

The SSP directed the officers to ensure cordial relations with the general public and adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures during the entire electoral process.

The officers were also asked to follow guidelines of Election Commission of India and maintain utmost synergy with other Forces operating in the district, so that real time action is taken in case of any exigency.

He also impressed upon all the officers to facilitate people in exercising their constitutional right to vote.

Kulgam is one of the few districts of Kashmir where terrorism-related activities have been reported.
