J&K: Baramulla man tests positive day after his death; toll at 27

Srinagar (NVI): A middle-aged man from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district tested positive, a day after his death today, taking the number of Covid-19 deaths in J&K to 27, health officials said.

They said that a 55-year-old man from Baramulla district who died at SMHS hospital Srinagar yesterday was tested positive for COVID-19 today. His test results came today as positive.

“His body was kept in GMC mortuary and his reports came positive for COVID-19 on Thursday,” officials said, adding that he was having underlying problems that include chest congestion, etc.

A doctor at the SMHS hospital said that the patient breathed his last within a span of few hours of his admission. “He developed breathing issues and succumbed. We had taken his samples the results of which came as positive today,” he said, adding that the body of the deceased was sent to his home in Baramulla and his family members were informed to follow proper guidelines. They were informed that only a few family members must take part in the funeral and burial deceased, he said.

With the fresh death, the death the toll due to coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 27 of which 24 were reported from Kashmir and three from the Jammu region.
