Jammu, Jan 05(NVI): In a significant move aimed at promoting transparency and accountability, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned the prosecution of 18 officials accused of corruption in 2024.

Officials said that these cases, spread across key districts such as Srinagar, Jammu, Baramulla, and Anantnag, involve serious allegations of misuse of official positions, demand and acceptance of bribes, and entrapment in anti-corruption operations.

The employees facing prosecution held various administrative and technical roles, underscoring the government’s determination to root out corruption across different levels of the system. Many of the sanctioned cases stem from trap operations conducted by anti-corruption agencies, reflecting the region’s intensifying drive against unethical practices.

This decision comes as part of the administration’s broader push to uphold integrity and accountability in public service. By taking decisive action, the government is sending a strong message that corruption will not be tolerated, a step crucial for restoring public confidence in governance and fostering a culture of transparency.

Observers believe this crackdown is vital for addressing the developmental challenges facing the region and ensuring that public resources are used efficiently. However, many argue that sustained reforms and systemic changes are needed to eliminate corruption entirely from the roots.
