Srinagar (NVI): A policeman was killed after suspected militants opened fire at him in Furrah area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said today.
They said that suspected militants fired at a Constable Abdul Rashid Dar (58) at 9.30 pm, leaving him critically injured at Furrah village of Kulgam district. “Dar was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Kulgam where he succumbed,” officials said.
Medical Superintendent GMC Kulgam Majeed Mehrab said that Dar succumbed to his injuries at the hospital soon after his arrival. “He had multiple bullet injuries,” he said.
Meanwhile, police launched a massive manhunt to nab the attackers involved in the act. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar told NVI that Dar died after sustaining bullet injuries. “A manhunt has been launched to track down the killers,” he added.
