Samba (NVI): A huge cache of arms and ammunition including IED making material was recovered by police today during patrolling in Ramgarh area of Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, a police party from Police Station Ramgarh led by SHO found some suspicipus material in Jhang area near Rakh Jhang nallah. The material found was in the form of two packets hidden in bushes along with some small wooden structures and strings.
The police party became suspicious and examined it carefully. Arms and ammunition were found on opening the two packets which were wrapped with polythene, small wooden structures and strings.
One packet was found containing 5 pistols, 10 magazines and 149 live bullets of pistol, some filled in magazines and some wrapped in polythene. Second packet was found containing 1 pistol, two magazines filled with 30 live bullets of pistol and 15 white boxes containing material likely used in IED making, according to police.
Total 6 pistols, 12 pistol magazines, 179 live pistol rounds, 15 white bottles containing IED making material was recovered along with wooden structures, packing material and strings, they said.
Police officials said that some unknown anti-national elements might have dumped this material acquired illegally through some medium to carry out terrorist acts and to cause damage to life and property in the area.
In this regard an FIR under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Explosive Substance Act and Indian Arms Act at PS Ramgarh and an investigation has been set into motion.
