J&K: Terrorist killed as attack on BJP worker’s house in Ganderbal foiled

Srinagar (NVI): An unidentified militant was killed while attempting a terror attack along with his aides on the house of a BJP worker in Nunar area of Ganderbal district in Kashmir. Unfortunately, a Personal Security Officer (PSO), who shot dead the terrorist in retaliatory firing, also succumbed to bullet injuries later, police said.

SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal said in a tweet that the PSO, identified as Mohd, Altaf lost his life in retaliatory action.

Earlier, Kashmir zone police tweeted that militants fired at one BJP worker at Nunar in Ganderbal. “He is safe however, his one Personnel Security Officer (PSO) sustained injuries in the incident. One unidentified militant was killed in PSO’s retaliation.”

A police official said that the militants attacked the house of a BJP worker Ghulam Qadir at Nunar, Ganderbal but PSO’s timely retaliation resulted in the killing of one militant in the exchange of fire.

Meanwhile, the official said the entire area has been sealed to nab the attackers. Ghulam Qadir is district vice president of BJP for Ganderbal and four PSOs have been deployed for his security.
