Srinagar (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir police today busted Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) module and a hideout in the Budgam district of Kashmir. Five militant associates were also arrested.
Police in a statement said, “Acting on a reliable information, Budgam Police, 53 RR Army and 153 BN CRPF during a search operation, arrested one top militant associate of LeT namely Zahoor Wani from Arizal village under Khansaib Police Station.”
The statement further said that following his disclosure, a hideout was also discovered which was used by militants to take shelter.
“From the hideout various incriminating materials, arms and ammunition were also recovered. During further investigation, four other militant associates namely, Younis Mir, Aslam Sheikh, Parwaiz Sheikh and Rehman Lone, all residents of Khansaib, were also nabbed,” the statement read.
Police said those arrested were involved in providing logistical support and shelter to LeT militants.
This group has been active in the area since past few months, according to the police’s statement.
In this regard, a case under relevant provisions of law has been registered in Khansaib Police Station and further investigations have been taken up.
