Official sources said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 3 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Gundbaba.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering a gunfight. The militant, identified as Zahoor Ahmed, affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit is undergoing treatment and his condition is stated to be critical.
The militant was absconding from Srinagar in November 2020 and had recently released a ‘propaganda’ audio clip on social media after his wife passed away due to cardiac arrest. He has two teenage children.
