J&K: Militant associate held, Chinese grenade recovered

Srinagar (NVI): Police today arrested a militant associate in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. They said a Chinese hand grenade was recovered from the arrested over-ground worker.

In a statement, police said that acting on specific information, Awantipora Police with the assistance of soldiers from 42 Rashtriya Rifles and 180 Battalion CRPF, conducted search of a particular house in village Syedabad, Tral, this morning.

During search operation, one person identified as Amir Ashraf Khan, resident of Syedabad Pastuna was arrested and a Chinese hand grenade was recovered from his possession which he had kept concealed in a plastic jar in the compound of his house.

Statement further stated that a case under relevant sections of law stands registered against the said militant associate in Police Station Tral.
