Srinagar, 25 Jan (NVI): In recognition of their bravery and distinguished service, Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel have been honoured with 27 prestigious awards on Republic Day 2025.
These include 15 Gallantry Medals (GM), 2 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service (PSM), and 10 Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM).
Prominent among the awardees are Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police; Nitish Kumar, CID Chief and former IGP Kashmir; Vijay Kumar, IPS; and Rakesh Balwal, IPS, former Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar.
Gallantry Medal Awardees
The Gallantry Medals were awarded to the following officers and personnel for their exemplary courage in service:

2. Maajid Afzal Wani (Head Constable)
3. Safeer Lone (Constable)
4. Shahnawaz Ahmad Deedad (Constable)
5. Suresh Kumar Bhat (Assistant Sub-Inspector)
6. Aqib Qayoom Yatoo (SgCT)
7. Manzoor Ahmad Bajard (SgCT)
8. Vijay Kumar (Inspector General of Police)
9. Rakesh Balwal (Senior Superintendent of Police)
10. Iftikhar Talib (Superintendent of Police)
11. Feroz Ahmad Dar (Assistant Sub-Inspector)
12. Sudish Singh (Head Constable)
13. Pawan Kumar (Head Constable)
14. Irshad Ahmad Lohar (SgCT)
15. Late Himayun Muzzammil (Deputy Superintendent of Police)
Two officers were awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, while ten others received Medals for Meritorious Service, recognising their dedication to duty and significant contributions to maintaining law and order in the region.
