Two JeM terrorists killed in encounter in J&K’s Anantnag

Srinagar (NVI): Two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces at the Kandipora area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said today.

“#AnantnagEncounterUpdate: 01 more #unidentified #terrorist killed (total 02). Search going on. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone police said in a tweet.

A senior police official, while speaking to media after the encounter said that on a specific input, the police along with Indian Army’s 3 RR and a local unit of CRPF launched a joint operation in Kandipora village of Anantnag.


He said that the terrorists were given chance by the forces to surrender but they refused to do so and fired upon them. The police official said that two JeM terrorists have been killed in the encounter and their identities are being ascertained. Arms and ammunition have also been recovered from them, he added.

Last evening, a joint team of Police and the Army CRPF had launched a cordon and search operation in Kandipora village of Bijbehara area in Anantnag.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight, police officials said.
