New Delhi (NVI): US Senator Kamala Harris made history today by becoming the first Black woman to be nominated for the post of Vice President of the United States at the Democratic National Convention held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kamala, in her speech, promised to be a champion for the voiceless Americans and criticised Trump for his policies, claiming that they have made a lot of people suffer, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic and economic crisis.

She was joined by former US President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. They vowed to build an all-inclusive United States with the help of presidential candidate Joe Biden.

This was the most important speech of her career as she accepted the party’s nomination and described her vision of America “as a beloved community — where all are welcome”.

Kamala Harris, the senator from California, whom Biden has picked as his running mate, accepted her nomination from Wilmington, Delaware.

She is also the first Black American and first Indian-American to fight for the vice presidential post from a major party.
