Karnataka CM tests corona positive

New Delhi (NVI): Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa yesterday tested positive for coronavirus and has been admitted to a private hospital as a precaution in Bengaluru.

He is doing well, is clinically stable and will be monitored closely by the team of Manipal Hospital.

Taking to Twitter, the Karnataka Chief Minister said, “I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine.”

Yediyurappa has requested all those who had come in contact with him to exercise self-quarantine. He is the fifth BJP leader to test positive for COVID-19.

Earlier yesterday, Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and UP Jal Shakti Minister Dr Mahendra Singh tested positive for COVID-19.

Apart from this, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wished Yediyurappa a speedy recovery.

Karnataka’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 1,34,819 positive cases. So far, 2,496 deaths have been reported in the state.
