Srinagar: Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police today killed 4 terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), thus thwarting 3rd nefarious attempt of Pakistan Army in 10 days to push terrorists into Kashmir to disturb peace.
The 4 infiltrating terrorists, most probably Pakistanis, were intercepted and killed in Macchil sector of Kupwara district after specific information about their movement, officials said.
A huge quantity of arms, ammunition and narcotics has been recovered from the slain terrorists, which points towards the deadly and dangerous designs which have been foiled.
The recoveries included 9 AK assault rifles, 3 pistols, 4 grenades, 288 bullets of AK rifle and pistol, 55 suspected narcotic packets and other war-like stores.
“During the intervening night of 22/23 June, alert troops of Indian Army detected suspicious movement in general area Kala Jungle along the Line of Control in Machhal Sector,” Srinagar-based Defence spokesman said.
Accordingly, ambushes were laid and the movement of terrorists was tracked during the night, he said.
At around 0430 hours, 4 terrorists were found crossing the Line of Control from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the spokesman said.
The infiltrating terrorists were engaged by the Indian Army when they came in the effective range of the ambush parties, he said, adding intense firefight ensued, resulting in elimination of all the 4 terrorists without any harm to Indian troops.
“The recovery of the large amount of war-like stores, including substantial narcotics material to be used for terror funding, indicates the vicious plan of Pakistan by utilising the terrorists to derail the existing peace in Kashmir Valley,” the spokesman said.
“This successful operation is a big blow to the Narco-funding & terror plans of the terrorists,” he said.
The identity of the slain terrorists or their outfit was not clear yet.
In the last 10 days, this was the 3rd attempt by Pakistan Army to push terrorists into Kashmir through the Kupwara district.
While foiling these attempts, the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police have killed 11 terrorists and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition from them.
On June 16, 5 foreign terrorists were killed in Jumagund in Keran sector of Kupwara district when they were trying to sneak into this side of Kashmir.
They reportedly belonged to some shadowy terrorist group called Ghaznavi Force.
Prior to that on June 13, the Army and the police killed 2 infiltrating terrorists near the LoC in the same Macchil sector of Kupwara district.

After the June 16 operation, General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Kupwara-based Vajr Division Major General Girish Kalia had told reporters, “In the recent past, a large number of intelligence inputs were received from various intelligence agencies about likely infiltration of terrorists from across Line of Control.”
He also stated that the recurring infiltration attempts exposed Pakistan’s duplicity with regard to the border ceasefire.
It is well known that cross-LoC movement of terrorists from PoJK takes place at the behest and with active support of Pakistan Army and its notorious intelligence agency ISI.
