Srinagar, Aug 01 (NVI) Amidst keenness to revive the cinematic glory of Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today unveiled the contours of a new Film Policy-2024 which aims to plug the gaps in the previous policies, including through introduction of a Single Window Cell for the facilitation of the movie-makers.

Outlining the plans to develop state-of-the-art film-shooting infrastructure inspired by European models, Sinha said the new policy ensures easier permissions, supports local talent and enhances the overall filmmaking experience.

The comprehensive policy offers subsidies and grants to both established and emerging filmmakers and promises improved road connectivity to key shooting locations.

The Single Window Cell will simplify administrative processes, making J&K more accessible to filmmakers, he said.

Recalling the golden era of film-making in Kashmir before terrorism took roots in late 1980s, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the deep-rooted connection between J&K and Bollywood.

“We are committed to reviving the cinematic glory of J&K,” Sinha said at the conclave today.

The conclave also showcased several initiatives, including the launch of a portal for shooting permissions, the screening of “Naya Jammu and Kashmir” films, and the “Frames of Transformation” photography competition.

Additionally, it featured workshops by leading filmmakers and a panel discussion with industry experts.

This strategic overhaul aims to reestablish Jammu and Kashmir as a premier destination for global cinema.(News Vibes of India)
