Srinagar, Dec 28 (NVI): Heavy snowfall in Kashmir has significantly disrupted daily life, affecting both transportation and power supply.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been particularly impacted, with hundreds of vehicles stranded between the Pir Panjal tunnel and Srinagar city due to slippery road conditions and accumulated snow. Efforts are underway to clear the highway, but as of today morning, traffic movement has not been fully restored.

In Srinagar and other districts, roads are blocked by heavy snowfall and snow clearance operations are ongoing to restore traffic. The electric power supply has been disrupted, with outages reported in many areas. Authorities are working to repair damaged infrastructure, including uprooted electric poles and snapped transmission lines. Aur traffic has also come to a half due to snow accumulation on the runway.

Despite these challenges, the snowfall has brought cheer to locals, breaking a long dry spell and promising prospects of a good Rabi crop. Tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg have received around 10 inches of fresh snowfall, attracting visitors. The weather office forecasts more rain and snow in the next 24 hours ( News Vibes of India)
