Kashmir Marathon Tomorrow, Attracts Participants across India and Abroad : Director Tourism

Srinagar, Oct 19(NVI) : The Director of Tourism for Kashmir, Raja Yaqoob Farooq, announced on Saturday that the first-ever international Kashmir Marathon is scheduled for tomorrow, with top Indian runners set to participate.

He also said that the marathon offers the highest prize money in the Kashmir.

Farooq said participants are expected from across India and abroad. The marathon will feature two disciplines: a full marathon (42 km) and a half marathon (21 km). The full marathon will begin at Polo View, pass through Cheshma Shahi Garden, and conclude at the University Gate, while the half marathon will end at Nishat.

He also highlighted that the event is expected to be a significant sporting occasion for the region, attracting both local and international participants. Registration for the marathon has now closed, with over 2,000 participants, including international entries, confirmed.

“We are confident that this event will be a grand success, just like the Cricket Legends League held recently in Srinagar,” said Farooq.

Dr. Sunita Godara, the Indian marathon legend, also addressed the press, stating, “We have over 2,000 participants registered, including top Indian runners and international athletes from 13 countries. This marathon showcases Kashmir’s improved situation, and we welcome everyone to experience the beauty and peace of our region.”                          (News Vibes of India)
