Kashmir: Six terrorists killed in 2 gunfights, DGP hails it as big success

Srinagar, July 07 (NVI) In a major success, security forces killed 6 terrorists, including a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit, since yesterday in two gunfights in Kulgam district of Kashmir while losing 2 soldiers.

The two encounters, which took place in Modergam village and Frisal Chinnigam vilage of Kulgam, started yesterday some hours apart and continued till today.

Four terrorists were killed yesterday in Frisal Chinnigam while 2 were eliminated in Modergam today.

Among the slain terrorists was HM commander Aadil Hussian Wani, a resident of Kutipora Shopian, officials said.

Another slain terrorist was identified as Faisal Bashir Lone of Kanipora, Shopian.

Six terrorists have been killed in two separate encounters in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief R R Swain said while talking to the media this evening.

He described it as a “big milestone” and said such successes, achieved with the help of common people, go a long way in strengthening security in the Union Territory.

The DGP said this accomplishment marks a pivotal milestone for the security forces in their ongoing efforts to strengthen the security environment in the region.

Swain emphasized the importance of such successes.

“Undoubtedly this is a big milestone for the security forces and these successes matter in strengthening the security environment,” he said.

Highlighting the collaborative efforts of the local population, Swain mentioned that the community is actively participating in the fight against terrorism.

“People are coming together to end terrorism and the operations are gaining momentum,” he said.

Swain provided an update on the status and scale of the efforts.

 

“The current operation is still underway and has not reached its conclusion,” he remarked, adding, “We have received news of the involvement of local terrorists as well.”

“The ongoing operations signify a concerted effort to dismantle terrorist networks and enhance the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The involvement of local terrorists underscores the complex challenges faced by security forces in the region, ” he said. (NVI
