Srinagar: Three terrorists were today killed in two separate encounters in Kashmir, as the security forces intensified their counter-terror operations ahead of the Amarnath Yatra.
A possible terror attack was also averted due to timely detection of an Improvised Explosive Devise weighing 15 kgs on a road in Pulwama district, the police said.
In Kulgam district, an encounter which began two days back was resumed today and resulted in the killing of two terrorists.
“Encounter has resumed again at #Mishipora area of #Kulgam. Cordon & search #operation has been continuing since Tuesday (14th June). Further details shall follow,” said a tweet by Kashmir police.
In subsequent tweets, the police said two terrorists were killed, one by one.

Meanwhile, another encounter took place in Hangalgund in #Kokernag area of #Anantnag district.
According to the latest information, one terrorist was killed in this encounter.
The operation was continuing, the police said.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, through a tweet, said police and security forces averted “a major #tragedy by recovering 15Kg IED planted by #terrorists in village Armullah, Litter. 02 #terrorist associates involved in this #terror crime have been arrested. Case registered. #Investigation on.”
