Srinagar: A Pakistan-supported terrorist, who killed a Kashmiri Pandit two days back, was eliminated in an overnight encounter with security forces in Awantipora in Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said today.
A soldier also died while another soldier was injured in the gunfight in Padgampora village of Awantipora in south Kashmir.
The gun-battle erupted around midnight after a team of Army, police and CRPF came under fire when it laid a cordon in the village in the hunt for terrorists.
There was a specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area, police said.
After hours of gun-battle, the police announced the killing of one terrorist.
Subsequently, it tweeted that the killed terrorist has been identified as Aqib Mustaq Bhat of Pulwama.
A top category terrorist, Aqib initially worked for Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit but nowadays, he had been working with the so-called The Resistance Front (TRF), which is a shadowy frontal organization of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Sanjay, a minority Kashmiri Pandit, was gunned down two days back in Achan village of Pulwama.

The injured soldier, identified as Naik Hemraj, was shifted to Army’s Base hospital, Srinagar, where his condition is said to be stable.
