Maha: 4 dead in chemical factory blast

New Delhi (NVI): At least four people were killed and one other person was seriously injured after an explosion at a chemical factory in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra today.

The incident took place at around 9 am at the Gharda Chemicals Ltd. factory in the Lote-Parshuram MIDC complex, according to the reports.

Several fire-tenders and firemen were rushed to the spot to douse the fire erupted after the explosion. At the time of the incident, 40 to 50 people were trapped inside the factory, who have been rescued safely and injured were shifted to the hospital, the reports said.

Reportedly, the reason behind the explosion is yet to be ascertained. However, it is said that the incident took place due to the explosion of the boiler.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the death of 4 people in the explosion.

“Saddened by the loss of lives due to an explosion at a factory in Ratnagiri district. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon,” PM’s Office tweeted.
