Maha colleges to reopen from Feb 15

New Delhi (NVI): Maharashtra’s Higher Education Minister Uday Samant today announced that universities and colleges across the state will reopen with 50 per cent occupancy from February 15.

He also said that the rule of minimum attendance of 75 per cent for college students will be waived off for this year.

“Universities can conduct examinations in online as well as offline mode as per the COVID-19 situation in respective areas, the minister added.

The Maharashtra government also informed that, to ensure safe resumption of regular classes in colleges, both students and teachers will have to wear face masks, and maintain social distancing inside the campuses.

Moreover, colleges have been asked to provide sanitisers inside the campus to ensure that students follow safe hand hygiene while on campus.

Earlier, the state government has allowed in-person classes for the students from class 5 and 12 in phase manner except for the schools in Mumbai.

The college and universities across the state had been conducting online classes for the students since March 2020 in the view of COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, Maharashtra is the worst-hit states in the country has registered 2,030,274 COVID-19 cases with over 51,130 deaths, the Health Ministry data shows.
