New Delhi (NVI): The government of Maharashtra today extended the coronavirus-induced lockdown across the state till February 28.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar issued the order extending the lockdown on behalf of the Maharashtra Governor.
In the order, the state government said that existing Mission Begin Again guidelines in relation to the pandemic will remain in force till the end of February.
“Activities already allowed and permitted from time to time shall be continued and all earlier orders shall be aligned with this order and shall remain in force up to February 28,” the order read.
It added that, all the departments of government of Maharashtra shall strictly implement these guidelines.
Earlier, the state government had extended the ongoing lockdown in view of the COVID-19 pandemic till January 31.
The restrictions imposed in the state under lockdown, which began in March last year, have been lifted, except the curbs on the reopening of private and government offices, swimming pools and interstate activities.
The state government has allowed partial reopening of schools and colleges, while the ban on social, religious and political gatherings continues with the extension.
Meanwhile, the state has recorded 2,889 new cases, pushing the tally to 20,18,413, while the COVID-19 toll reached 50,944 in Maharashtra, the Health Ministry data shows.
