Maha: Rs 2 cr snake seized, 1 held

New Delhi (NVI): Police has arrested a 40-year old man and seized a Rs 2 crore sand boa snake from his possession in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai, according to the reports.

The man was arrested by the police when he had come to sell the rare sand boa snake, a protected species under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, at Kharghar area of Navi Mumbai.

He was selling the snake to people by saying if they keep such a snake at home, it will bring them wealth and good luck.

The accused has been identified as Kishore Govind Patil, resident of Bhiwandi, a mechanic by profession, the reports said.

Kharghar police arrested and booked Patil under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Wildlife Protection Act. He has been remanded in police custody till March 1.
