Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) tonight said it killed and injured 12 commandos of Pakistan Army in a 10-hour gunfight in South Waziristan while losing 4 of its Mujahideen.

The gun battle erupted after the Pakistan Army launched an attack at a TTP camp in Wana Tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan in South Waziristan this morning, according to the outfit’s spokesman Muhammad Khurasani.

“The clash continued for about 10 hours, in which four of our colleagues Sohail, Jan Muhammad, Anas and Waseem were martyred,” Khurasani said in a statement.

“About a dozen SSG commandos were killed and injured in the clash,” he added.

He said that the Pakistan Army, frustrated by so many casualties on its side, targeted common people with heavy artillery fire,  causing loss of life and property to the local people.
