Major hit on Pakistan military: TTP says it killed 16 personnel in Khyber

Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) today said it killed 16 Pakistani military personnel and injured 2 in twin encounters in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last night.

In Tehsil Kalachi of District Dera Ismail Khan, the Mujahideen of TTP attacked the Khuti check post, setting it on fire along with 5 motorcycles of the military personnel, the outfit’s spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said.

Seven personnel present at the check post were killed and two were injured, he said.

Three Kalashnikov rifles were also seized by the Mujahideen, he added.

While returning from the operation, the Mujahideen were ambushed by the Pakistani military who arrived in 3 vehicles, Khurasani said.

The Mujahideen responded effectively and completely destroyed one of the vehicles in which 9 military personnel were also killed, he added.

Two other Army vehicles managed to escape, he said.
