Srinagar Nov 4 (NVI): An MBBS student from Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was found dead in Bangladesh, leaving his family in shock, with relatives appealing to the Centre for the repatriation of his mortal remains.

Adnan Ahmed Rather, son of Mohammad Altaf Rather and a resident of Dangerpora area of Sopore, was pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh and was in the final semester of his course, his family said.

According to the family, Adnan had travelled to Bangladesh around 15 days ago along with his mother and was scheduled to appear in his first examination of the final semester.

The family said they lost contact with him two days ago and were subsequently informed that he was missing.

“On Tuesday evening, we were informed that our beloved family member had been found dead near a water body,” a family member said.

The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately known.

The family has appealed to the Government of India to intervene and coordinate with the authorities in Bangladesh to ensure the early repatriation of Adnan’s mortal remains to his native place in Jammu and Kashmir Sopore.(NVI)
