Minor girl, woman injured in Pak shelling along Loc in J&K’s Baramulla

Srinagar (NVI): A 12-year-old girl and a woman were injured today in a fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police officials said.

They said that both the injured received minor splinter injures and were rushed to a hospital, where their condition was stable.

Defence sources said that Pakistan resorted to shelling at Hajipeer sector of Uri which was retaliated by the Indian Army effectively. They said that the shelling intensified in the afternoon which triggered panic in areas that include Chrunda, Sahoora, Silikote, Balkote, Nambla, Garkote areas.

A police official said the injured minor girl was identified as Shanaza Bano and the woman was identified as Tahira (20), both residents of Churunda village of Uri.

Meanwhile, Uri residents have once again urged the J&K government to construct underground bunkers. “At times, shelling intensifies to an extent, we feel war is about to start. We are living under a constant fear,” said Abdur Rashid Khatana, a resident of Uri.

In another ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Baramulla’s Rampur sector this afternoon, three soldiers were injured, defence officials said.

“On 01 May 2020, at about 1530 hours, Pakistan initiated an Unprovoked Ceasefire Violation (CFV) along the LoC in Rampur Sector, District Baramulla (J&K). Three soldiers have been injured in the CFV. Indian Army is retaliating befittingly,” they said.
