Srinagar, Dec 29 (NVI) Kashmir Valley is bracing for more snowfall as the year concludes and the new year begins, with the Meteorological Department predicting the arrival of two Western Disturbances (WDs) in quick succession starting January 1.

While dry weather is expected to prevail until the end of this year, a weak WD will bring cloudy skies and light snow at scattered locations from the evening of January 1 through the morning of January 2.

A stronger WD is expected to affect the region from January 3 to 6, bringing moderate snowfall to many parts of Kashmir and scattered snow to Jammu Division.

The MeT department has also issued a cold wave warning for isolated areas on December 30 and 31, advising travelers and locals to stay updated on weather conditions due to the possibility of icy road conditions.

With the Chilla- e-Kalan, Kashmir’s harsh 40-day winter period, underway since December 21, these weather systems are likely to intensify the cold spell, with further snowfall expected in the coming days.(News Vibes of India)
