Peshawar, Apr 28: In an act of blasphemy, the Pakistani military has carried out a drone attack on a mosque in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan, turning the holy shrine into a mound of rubble.
The attack by the Pakistani military was carried out in Khani Khel area of Miryam in Bannu district on April 26.
Masjid was destroyed in this attack, causing outrage among the locals in the Pashtun-dominated region.
“This demonstrates that terrorism is merely a pretext, while the real targets are Muslims’ honor and their sacred places,” said Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a statement.
“It further states that turning masjids into rubble is not bravery, but a grave crime and an act of extreme cowardice that history will never forgive,” said the TTP statement issued by its spokesman Muhammad Khorasani.
The Pakistani military, which proclaims to be the protector of Islam, has often carried out attacks on Muslim religious places like mosques and madrassas, both within the country as well as in the neighbouring Afghanistan.
The biggest assault by the Pakistani military was on the revered Lal Masjid in Islamabad, where hundreds of students of Islam and clerics were killed in 2007. (NVI)
