New Delhi (NVI): Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL), which runs the Metro-1 (Versova-Ghatkopar) corridor will extend its operating hours from today.

The MMOPL extended service hours by 40 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes in the evening.

Taking to Twitter, Mumbai Metro said, “Mumbai Metro One extends timing of its train operations. First and last train from Versova will be at 0750 and 2050 hrs; & from Ghatkopar at 0815 and 2115 hrs, respectively. Stations will open 15 minutes prior to the departure of the first train.”

Earlier in mid October, the city Metro resumed its operations, seven months after halting services in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. They reopened with caution putting into place a series of measures such as thermal scanners and sanitisers among others to adhere to COVID-19 social distancing norms.

At present, over 50,000 commuters are travelling on the metro on weekdays. Prior the pandemic, the ridership was more than 4 lakh on weekdays.

So far, in Mumbai city, 606 cases and 12 deaths were reported in past 24 hours. With this, its case count increased to 2.90 lakh and death toll to 10,977.
