Srinagar, July 27 (NVI) : The National Cadet Corps (NCC) organized Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti celebrations at SP College, Srinagar, on 26 July 2024. The event aimed to pay homage to the heroes of Kargil War and to raise awareness among the young generation about the sacrifices made by the Indian Army in reclaiming the icy heights of Kargil and Dras.
The celebrations, held in the heart of Srinagar, witnessed participation of approx 300 cadets, war veterans, and veer naris, Principal and staff of SP College.
War veterans interacted with the cadets and spoke about their experience in the Kargil war which captivated the audience and definitely motivated the cadets. The event commenced with singing of the National Anthem, followed by a two-minute silence in memory of the war heroes.
Various activities were organized as a run up to the main event held on 26 Jul 24, such as Drawing Competition with the theme of Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti, an Essay Writing Competition and tree plantation drive with the theme ‘Ek Ped Shaheed ke Naam’.
The event concluded with singing of the NCC song and a tea with all the participants, marking a fitting end to a day of remembrance and reverence.(News Vibes of India)
