Srinagar (NVI): In a big development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) today arrested PDP youth leader Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, in connection with terror conspiracy case of tainted police officer Davinder Singh, who was arrested earlier this year while ferrying two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists in a vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway.

Para was questioned by NIA in this matter for two days.

An NIA official confirmed that Waheed was formally arrested in the arrest case of suspended J&K Police DSP Davinder Singh.

“Waheed was questioned for two days in New Delhi, after being summoned by the agency under section 160 CPC,” he said.

Yesterday, PDP leader Yasir Reshi was also questioned by NIA in connection with the case. According to sources, Yasir Reshi was summoned at NIA office in Srinagar where he was thoroughly questioned. Reshi appeared before the questioning team of NIA at Raj Bagh.

J&K Police officer, Davinder Singh was arrested while ferrying two Hizbul Mujahideen militants- Naveed Babu and Altaf Ahmed, besides a lawyer in South Kashmir’s Mir Bazar area in January this year.

Singh is accused of being hand in glove with militants. In past as well, NIA has questioned different persons in this connection.

Yasir Reshi is the 2nd PDP leader after Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra who was questioned by NIA. According to sources, more politicians are likely to be grilled in the coming days.

Waheed Para, a close aide of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, was on the radar of NIA for the past few months. His arrest also comes as a massive setback for PDP and Gupkar alliance before the District Development Council (DDC) polls.

The investigation agency is likely to produce Para in a Special NIA Court in New Delhi and seek his custody for further probe.
