Srinagar (NVI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today registered a case related to conspiracy by terror organisation Lashkar-e-Mustafa, working at the behest of proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, to carry out terrorist activities in Jammu area of J&K.
As per an official statement, the case has been registered against Lashkar-e-Mustafa, which is a front of JeM. The terror outfit was working for JeM,” with the aim of threatening the sovereignty, integrity and security of India.”
Pertinent to mention here that the case has been registered around three weeks after the arrest of Lashkar-e-Mustafa chief Hidayatullah Malik from Jammu. Malik was arrested on February 6 by security forces.
“The case was initially registered as FIR number 16/2021 of Gangyal Police station, District Jammu on 06.02.2021 under section 18, 20 of Unlawful activities prevention act. NIA has re-registered this case as RC-01/2021/NIA/JMU on 02.03.2021 and has taken over the investigation,” read an official statement released today.
“The arrested accused Hidayat-ullah Malik is the chief of Lashker-e-Mustafa. During searches conducted, one hand grenade, 03 magazines and 28 rounds with other incriminating material were recovered from his possession. Hidayat-ullah Malik had done reconnaissance of many security installations in Jammu and Delhi in 2018 and 2019 for carrying out terror attacks,” the statement read.
In addition to this, he has been associated with other terror groups in past and has furthered subversive and terror activities in Kashmir valley. “The terror group had also committed a daylight Bank robbery in which to Sixty (60) Lakh Rupees were looted from JK Bank, Main Branch Shopian in November 2020,” read the official statement.
Meanwhile, further investigation in the case is underway.
