New Delhi (NVI): President Ram Nath Kovind today rejected the mercy plea of Mukesh Singh who is one of the convicts in the 2012 Delhi gangrape case.
The President has rejected the plea after Union Home Ministry reiterated the recommendation of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal in this regard.
Mukesh Singh and the three other convicts– Vinay Sharma, Akshay Kumar and Pawan Gupta– are scheduled to be hanged on January 22 at 7 am in Tihar Jail.
Nirbhaya, a 23-year-old girl, was brutally raped and murdered on the night of December 16, 2012, in a south Delhi area.
